I set out to find a location I could shoot indoors that would accommodate the family of 7 better than my studio would. The first place that came to mind was the Baraboo Arts Banquet Hall. Now I have never been in the building and knew really nothing about it other than I drive by it quite often with curiosity. Always wanting to shoot a Wedding there or just stop in just so I could see the place.
I called and spoke with Abby about what I was wanting to do. She said she would see if it would be available and give me a call back. The whole time I am talking to her my heart is pounding like crazy as I am not usually the one to ask for use of space. On most occasions I am either shooting a Wedding, at a clients home, in my studio or outdoors.
Later that day Abby called me back and left a message saying that would be no problem and wondered if I could help them out as well. After I listened to the message I was so excited for a few different reasons. One I get to use this amazing building for a session and two I over came a fear and the outcome was wonderful. I called Abby back and we worked out at time to meet so I could look around and talk over what they needed help with as well.
I met with Abby and she showed me around and told me about some of the history of the building. I find this building absolutely fascinating and am amazed at it's rustic beauty. The building was the Ringling Brothers shop and storage facility for the Circus which is located directly across the street. When touring the building you will notice in the Moeller room they have left the floor as it has been for years with the grooves. My favorite room by the way! The natural light that comes in is wonderful. Abby also showed me the newly renovated Gollmar room in which they have done a very good job in keeping the feel of the old building throughout. That is the room I shot the Koenig Family Session in. In return Abby asked if I would be willing to come and shoot a few of their upcoming events that were being held in the next few months. |
After chatting with the ladies and learning a little about the organization I decided I wanted to donate to the auction a Portrait Session and an 11x14 print hoping to help out a little bit. I look forward photographing the person and/or family that won this item.

Elite Catering & Bakery provided the food for the event. The food was great and the Banana Foster he sent over to me to try was excellent! Thank you Chef Mike whom is busy at work in the photo below. And take a look at all that yummy food! |
